About Nate the Jeweler

Nathan Reigle Nolan, better known as Nate The Jeweler, embarked on his journey into the world of jewelry in October 2000, starting at Your Jeweler in Carterville, Illinois. Initially, Nathan honed his craft in the fundamentals of jewelry repair and design, adhering to the prestigious standards of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). During his 13-year tenure, he mastered various skills including stone setting, custom design, and comprehensive jewelry repair, and completed the GIA Diamond course.

Seeking to expand his expertise, Nathan relocated to Hiawassee, Georgia, where he pursued an advanced stone setting course at the New Approach School for Jewelers. He offered his specialized services to local jewelry establishments as a subcontractor before making his way to St. Augustine, Florida. It was here that Nathan's path crossed with Darrell Miklos, a renowned treasure hunter, sparking a unique friendship and professional partnership. Together, they envisioned and developed a novel concept: integrating spikes and nails recovered from shipwreck sites—acquired through Darrell's diving expeditions under official permits—into exclusive jewelry pieces.

Operating from his state-of-the-art workshop, Nate The Jeweler crafts each piece with a personal touch, ensuring no two items are identical. Utilizing bronze and copper spikes, along with copper sheathing retrieved from the hulls of sunken ships, Nathan transforms these historical artifacts into remarkable works of art. This innovative approach to jewelry design not only celebrates the beauty of the materials but also preserves a piece of history, allowing wearers to connect with the past in an intimate and unique way.

Throughout his adult life, Darrell Miklos has passionately pursued treasures hidden within early colonial period shipwrecks. His journey into treasure hunting began at the tender age of seven, under the guidance of his father, Roger Miklos, a renowned treasure hunter in his own right. Darrell's career took a fascinating turn as he collaborated with the late astronaut Gordon Cooper in search of treasure-laden shipwrecks, a partnership that inspired the Discovery Channel series "Cooper's Treasure." This show, which aired for two seasons, explored Darrell's unique relationship with Cooper and the quest that ensued from Cooper's legacy.

Since 2005, Miklos has dedicated himself to exploring Cooper's maps, leading to the discovery of several hundred shipwrecks over his 40-year career. His expeditions have spanned the waters of the Caribbean, Atlantic, and Mediterranean, covering more than 20 countries. Miklos's latest project involves the search for Nazi U-Boats, which is highlighted in his series "Lost U-Boats of WWII" on the History Channel.

In addition to his treasure hunting exploits, Miklos, alongside his close friend Nathan Riegle Nolan, has ventured into jewelry design. Together, they have created a line of jewelry featuring copper spikes and nails, each piece handcrafted and incorporating colonial period copper sourced from shipwrecks recovered by Miklos. This unique collection not only embodies the spirit of adventure but also carries a piece of history, making each item a treasure in its own right.
